Product Description
317L Low Carbon Molybdenum Enhanced Stainless Steel Sheet 0.8mm-50mm for Chemical Processing Equipment
Product Overview

317L is a premium austenitic stainless steel with enhanced molybdenum content (3.0-4.0%), providing significantly improved corrosion resistance over standard 316L in aggressive chemical environments. The low carbon grade (≤0.03% C) prevents intergranular corrosion in as-welded condition. This makes 317L the material of choice for chemical processing equipment, flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems, pulp and paper digesters, and food processing involving acidic products.

Key Features
  • Enhanced Molybdenum Content: 3.0-4.0% Mo provides superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and reducing acid attack
  • Superior Sulfuric Acid Resistance: Excellent performance in sulfuric acid concentrations up to 5% at elevated temperatures
  • Low Carbon (L-Grade): Maximum 0.03% carbon eliminates sensitization during welding, no post-weld heat treatment required
  • Higher Nickel Content: 11.0-15.0% Ni improves resistance to stress corrosion cracking and enhances formability
  • Excellent Pitting Resistance: PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) ≥ 24.0, outperforming 316L (PREN 23.0)
  • Good High-Temperature Strength: Superior creep rupture strength compared to 316L at elevated service temperatures
