Abrasion resistant steel plate is a quenched and tempered low alloy steel engineered for one single purpose: to survive sliding abrasion and impact wear far longer than ordinary structural steel. Our AR400, AR450 and AR500 plates are hardened to Brinell hardness levels between 360 and 530, which gives wear parts such as excavator buckets, loader blades, chute liners, dump truck bodies and crusher components a service life several times longer than common Q235 or A36 plate of the same thickness. The NM series produced to Chinese standard GB/T 24186 offers the same performance family with guaranteed hardness and impact properties verified by mill certificates on every heat.

Although the plate is hard, it remains workable: AR400 can be flame cut, plasma cut, drilled and welded using the low hydrogen consumables and preheat procedures recommended for this material class, while AR500 is used mainly for liners and wear strips that are bolted or welded onto milder backing structures. Because replacement of worn steel is often the largest maintenance cost in mining and material handling, choosing the correct hardness grade reduces downtime and total cost of ownership.
